Introduction

A diverse east Asian hairstreak genus, ranging from Russia to northern India.

Nomenclature

The generic name Dipsas Westwood [1851] was traditionally applied to this genus, until it was recognized to be an unavailable junior homonym of Dipsas Laurentius 1768. However, the type species of Westwood's name has been split out into the monotypic genus Thermozephyrus Inomata and Itagaki 1986, so the name is now associated with that taxon.

Yoshino (2001) has broken with the general trend and synonymized a number of recently described species.

This page is a Tree of Life Branch Page.

Each ToL branch page provides a synopsis of the characteristics of a group of organisms representing a branch of the Tree of Life. The major distinction between a branch and a leaf of the Tree of Life is that each branch can be further subdivided into descendent branches, that is, subgroups representing distinct genetic lineages.

For a more detailed explanation of the different ToL page types, have a look at the Structure of the Tree of Life page.
